Have you ever wondered what God is like or how you could get to know who he really is?

 

Here in New Cumnock Baptist Church we along with millions of Christians throughout history, believe that the bible is God’s essential message to every person, in every place, at every time.  It is essential because in the bible God reveals himself to us and especially through his Son, Jesus Christ. 

 

The bible tells us that God is the creator of everything and everyone and that he is loving, good and just and that everything good comes from him. 

 

It shows us that when God created everything he made it good, it even tells us that he made us human beings in his own image.  I.e. he made us like him and to be only truly happy when we know and worship him.

 

But all that God has made has been polluted by sin and that includes you and me.  Our sinfulness is seen in our violence, our selfishness, and our tendency to go against what God says.

 

Sin is against God and is the cause of all suffering, discrimination and hurt in this world. Sin is humanity’s fault and makes us unable to know God and therefore unable to be truly happy.
